Alcalá de Henares Course
Back from three intense days in which I have learned a lot about how to teach Science within the integrated curriculum.
I am really proud to take part in this amazing project. Thank you to Louise for such a fantastic course and thank you to so many teachers from all over Spain that I have met and shared experiences with.
I can say that this project counts with the best possible teachers. It is really motivating finding nowadays so many enthusiastic teachers who hardly believe that this British Council and MEC collaboration assures the best bilingual education for our pupils and who day by day fight for giving children the best .
I am looking forwards to coming back next Monday and putting into practice everything I have learned!
Thank you, of course, to children, parents and colleagues for letting me go and for the part you have in me feeling today a very happy and lucky man.

Some advices to take care of your organs.
We made a list of good advices to take care of the different organs and senses. In order to do this:
1. We individually put together a sentence split into different parts.
2. We copied that sentence in a piece of paper.
3. There were five tables, one for each sense, so we moved with our sense to the right table.
4. Then, we glued together all the sentences for the same sense in the same sheet of paper.
5. Finally we prepared a poster for all the five senses.
Taste.
We learned about taste buds and we tasted some aliments.
-Sweet: We tasted a piece of marzipan.
-Salty: We tasted a cracker.
-Bitter: We tasted dark chocolate and Samuel loved it!
-Sour: Some children tasted some lemmon drops and it was not so good.
Then we selected some aliments and we classified them in different groups:

SMELL.
Smell is a very important sense. It is even more important for many animals.
Look how important smell was for Ferdinand the bull, who preferred smelling flowers than fighting...I prefer doing that too!

How the ear works.
We made a model ear with plasticine.
I hope you review the parts of the ear and how it works in order to avoid surprises...

Peter`s Project Work: Our Body.
As I said, during this week, Peter, our British Council Counsellor will introduce a new project about the body
We will focus now on this proyect and we will come back to our project work about the 5 senses when we finish with this one.
To introduce it, Peter has told us a story called "From Head to Toe" and we are making a minibook . He will also teach about bones and muscles. Peter and me are working together with this project and we hope you take a profit from it!
I post some photos which will help us.

PARTS OF THE EYE
These are some important links about the eye and its functions. Although you have a lot of information here, you have to focus on five parts mainly:
Iris, pupil, eye ball, lens and retina. As you know, these parts are for vision.
There are other parts for protection, such as eyelids, eyelashes and eyebrow.
Practise!

The 5 Senses. Sight.
With the sense of sight we interrupt this project work for a couple of weeks as a new project will be introduced by Peter.
We have seen a video about how difficult life can be for a blind person and how when we have one sense damaged, we use the other four senses more accurately.
Then we have learned that blind people can read. They use braille system to do it.
Finally, we have made a poster showing the parts of the eye and its functions in braille system.
