OUR ENORMOUS PLANT!!!

As you know we have been growing a bean plant in order to see how a plant grows and reproduce. The result is amazing!
We planted a bean in January, then we had a little plant, then a big plant, finally a flower grew and now...we have a fruit! Hopefully we will grow an enormous plant!

Sorry for not adding new things in the last days, but  I´ ve been very busy and now we are just getting ready for second term evaluation. We have been working with the water cycle through different games, experiments and activities. Here you have a brief summary of the most interesting things.

We made an experiment using hot water, a jar, a lid and an ice cube and then, we made this interesting experiment.
Then we learned some interesting things about the states of water and the water cycle.

We have also played some games and played some videos.

Delicious recipes.

Now that we know what homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures are. we can prepare the most tasty mixtures: recipes!!! and best of all we can eat them! Our chef, Peter teaches us to prepare delicious chocolate crispies. We change a solid ( hard chocolate ) into a liquid ( liquid chocolate) with the help of hot water, then we add some cereals to the mixture, we put it in cake paper and we wait for it to get hard again when it gets cold. This mixture is a delicious one! Then we see some other recipes, we prepare our own ones and we explain them to the class.

Homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures.

To finish with mixtures we mix put sugar, salt and compost into hot and cold water and we predict if substances dissolve better in hot or cold liquids ( if they do) and then we check if our predictions were right.
We observe that substances dissolve much better in hot water and we also see thar compost never dissolves. Water and compost is a heterogeneous mixture.

Mixtures: Sugar and rice and Fizzy Fountain.

In order to learn some properties of mixtures we are going to make some experiments.
First, we mix rice and   water together and we predict what is going to happen. Then we mix sugar and water. Sugar and water form a homogeneous mixture and rice and water form a heterogenious mixture. After that we put oil and water into a glass and we observe that they don´t mix together, oil is always on top.  To end with our experiment we add some drops of food colouring to oil and water and we put two efervecent tablets into the mixture. Soon we see a fizzy fountain!
When the bubbles (gas and water ) go up,  the gas goes away when it reaches the surface and the water goes down again, this is a pretty effect!
